His plane failed to arrive at its scheduled destination an hour later, prompting a large-scale search operation involving Durham Regional Police, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre. Searchers located the submerged aircraft wreckage in Wolf Lake, within Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, on Tuesday.

The OPP confirmed on Wednesday that the pilot was deceased. An extraction plan for the aircraft is currently being coordinated by investigators. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team to the Minden Hills, Ontario area to investigate the incident.
