MLB: Dodgers acquire flame-throwing pitcher Halvorsen from Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired pitcher Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies in a trade aimed at strengthening their bullpen. Halvorsen, 26, is known for his fastball, which has been clocked at up to 163 kph (101.9 mph).

Halvorsen is currently on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation, having been placed there on July 4. He has begun a rehabilitation assignment in Triple-A and will continue his recovery with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. This season, Halvorsen has appeared in 21 games, recording a 1-1 record with a 4.74 ERA over 19 innings. He has 17 strikeouts and 15 walks, with opponents batting .272 against him, resulting in a WHIP of 1.95.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed excitement about the acquisition. "I hope we can help him find a breakthrough," Roberts said before a game. "His arm talent is there, and our team is very excited about him." The Dodgers are looking to add depth to their pitching staff, and Halvorsen's potential is seen as a significant asset.

In exchange for Halvorsen, the Rockies received outfielder Landyn Vidourek, ranked 25th in the Dodgers' farm system, and right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso. The trade addresses the Rockies' need for prospects while allowing the Dodgers to take a chance on a pitcher with high velocity who could become a valuable contributor if he returns to full health.
