The momentum shifted back to the Padres in the bottom of the seventh when Xander Bogaerts and Gavin Sheets hit consecutive doubles to tie the game. Jase Bowen and Samad Taylor then executed successful bunt singles, putting the Padres back in front.

The Padres extended their lead in the eighth inning with two more hits and a stolen base, followed by RBI singles from Taylor and Fermin, which added three insurance runs. Overall, the Padres recorded 10 hits, with four players achieving multiple hits: Bogaerts, Bowen, Taylor, and Fermin. Taylor was particularly effective, driving in three runs.

On the pitching front, Walker Buehler started for the Padres, allowing one run over 4.2 innings. Adrian Morejon earned the win by pitching 1.2 hitless innings in relief. The Reds' starter, Andrew Abbott, delivered a quality start, pitching six innings and allowing three runs, but received no offensive support.
