MLS suspends Inter Miami coach Guillermo Hoyos for one game

Inter Miami will be without head coach Guillermo Hoyos for their upcoming match against CF Montreal due to a one-game suspension from Major League Soccer. The league cited repeated violations of regulations concerning the timely start of matches as the reason for the penalty.

MLS emphasized that all clubs must be on the field and prepared to begin both the first and second halves at the scheduled time. The league's regulations stipulate progressive fines and coach suspensions for repeated infractions. Hoyos and Inter Miami also incurred an undisclosed financial penalty for breaching this policy, particularly regarding returns from halftime.

The suspension arrives at a challenging juncture for the Florida-based club. Inter Miami has not secured a victory in their last month of league play and has also been eliminated from the Leagues Cup. Their most recent league performance saw them lose 2-1 to Toronto, a team that had only won one of its previous 14 matches.

Despite their recent struggles, Inter Miami, led on the field by Lionel Messi, remains second in the Eastern Conference standings with 40 points. However, they trail conference leaders Nashville by 10 points, having suffered a 4-1 defeat to them two weeks prior.
