Moderaterna pledges inquiry commission for every woman murdered in Sweden

Moderaterna has announced a new election pledge focused on combating fatal violence against women. Party leader and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that an inquiry commission will be established every time a woman is murdered in Sweden, aiming for a "zero vision" for such crimes.

This proposal is intended to strengthen the current government's initiative, which already mandates investigations into serious crimes to identify gaps in societal protection. Currently, these investigations are triggered when a current or former partner is involved in a killing or attempted killing. Moderaterna's plan expands this to include cases where the perpetrator has no such connection to the victim.

"Zero women should be murdered by men," Kristersson declared at a press conference. The party believes that by establishing these commissions, even in cases without a prior connection between the victim and perpetrator, they can better identify systemic failures and work towards preventing future tragedies.
