Modi to Visit UAE, Europe to Boost Trade, Tech Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant five-nation tour spanning the UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy from May 15-20, 2026. This high-level visit is strategically designed to deepen India's existing partnerships and forge new avenues across critical sectors such as trade, technology, energy, innovation, and green growth. It also serves to reinforce India's expanding engagement with both the European continent and the vital Gulf region.

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has highlighted the visit's crucial timing, anticipating it will inject fresh momentum into India's trade and investment relationships with Europe and the Gulf. FIEO President S C Ralhan emphasized that the Prime Minister's engagements underscore India's growing global stature as a reliable economic partner and a key contributor to global growth. The tour is expected to unlock substantial opportunities for Indian exporters across a diverse range of sectors, including engineering, clean energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles, logistics, and digital trade.

The Prime Minister's itinerary begins in the UAE on May 15, where discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan are expected to center on energy cooperation, trade, investment, and regional matters of mutual interest. The UAE's role as a key gateway for Indian exports to the Middle East and Africa, coupled with its status as a major trade and investment partner, makes this leg of the tour particularly vital for consolidating bilateral economic ties.
