Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has declared that the nation will not yield to "excessive demands" from the United States in any future negotiations. Khamenei made these remarks on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, emphasizing Iran's stance on international dealings.

Khamenei explained his decision to approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), stating it was contingent on assurances from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the negotiating team. He highlighted that these promises were made to safeguard the rights and the "Resistance Front" of the Iranian nation. Khamenei granted his permission based on the president's explicit acceptance of this responsibility.

I, as a matter of principle, held a different view; however, out of the commitment that the esteemed president, as the head of the Supreme National Security Council, gave to me on his own behalf and on behalf of the other members regarding the safeguarding of the rights of the Iranian nation and the Resistance Front, and his explicit acceptance of that responsibility, I granted my permission.

He further contended that former U.S. President Donald Trump was the driving force behind the agreement, acting out of "desperation" and employing various tactics to achieve it. Khamenei indicated that Iran would observe the outcomes of the deal but stressed that engaging in in-person negotiations did not equate to accepting the American viewpoint.
