Mölndal school evacuated after threat against students

Krokslättsgymnasiet in Mölndal was evacuated on Friday after school officials received information that several people, possibly armed, were heading there to find named students.

The warning reached the school leadership through staff at another school, who said they had heard about the threat from their students. Björn Winblad, one of the high school’s principals, said the school contacted police immediately and decided to close the building and send students home.

Police arrived shortly before 11:30 a.m. and left shortly before 1 p.m. Adam Isaksson Samara, a police spokesperson, said many details remained unclear. Investigators opened a preliminary inquiry into aggravated unlawful threats and weapons offences. No one had been identified as a suspect, and there were no reports of injuries.

Krokslättsgymnasiet is a small municipal school offering only vocational programs. Winblad said he had never experienced anything similar, although staff had trained for incidents involving ongoing lethal violence. “Now we are turning to our employees to make sure they receive the support they need,” he said. Student welfare staff were also available to meet worried teenagers.

The school planned to reopen on Monday, later than usual. Winblad said the school had informed all guardians about what happened.
