Monaco rally to edge winless PSG as Lyon beat Auxerre in Ligue 1

Monaco overturned an early Paris Saint-Germain lead to win 2-1 on Friday, leaving the French champions without a victory after the opening three Ligue 1 matches. The result put Monaco top of the standings with nine points from nine, the league’s only perfect record.

PSG took the lead in the 31st minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sent the ball across the six-yard box, where Marquinhos bundled it in. A video assistant referee review checked whether the Brazilian had used his arm before confirming the goal. It was Marquinhos’ second goal in two matches.

Monaco equalized in the 58th minute when Nazinho headed in from close range after Jordan Teze’s cross. Stanis Idumbo completed the comeback in the 72nd minute, creating a shooting opportunity on the left side of the box before driving a powerful effort into the net from a tight angle.

Before kickoff, PSG announced that coach Luis Enrique had extended his contract through 2030. Lucas Beraldo, Senny Mayulu, João Neves, Willian Pacho and Fabián Ruiz also signed new deals.

In the other match, Olympique Lyonnais beat visiting Auxerre 3-1. Felix Bacher headed in Ernest Nuamah’s corner in the 28th minute, and Zachary Athekame added a low shot three minutes later. Cameron Archer pulled one back before halftime with his first goal for Auxerre, but Nuamah restored Lyon’s two-goal advantage soon after the break. Lyon came close to a fourth when Kail Boudache hit the woodwork late.
