Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, Sisley... A major part of the Paul Durand-Ruel collection dispersed at auction

A major collection of Impressionist and modern art, once owned by the influential dealer Paul Durand-Ruel, is set to go under the hammer at Christie's in Paris this October. The sale promises to be a significant event, featuring approximately 60 works by celebrated artists including Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. The collection's esteemed provenance is expected to drive strong interest from collectors worldwide.

The ensemble is estimated to be worth between 30 and 43 million euros. The auction will be divided into two parts: a prestigious sale on October 22 titled "Durand-Ruel Generations of Vision," offering 27 carefully selected lots, followed by a more general sale of "Various Art Moderne et Impressionniste" the next day. This dispersal represents a unique opportunity to acquire pieces from a collection that played a crucial role in the rise of Impressionism.

Among the highlights is Claude Monet's 1882 painting, "Bord des falaises à Pourville." This particular work is anticipated to achieve a record price for the artist in France, with an estimated value between 11 and 15 million euros. The sale's success could provide a significant boost to the Parisian art market, underscoring the enduring appeal of Impressionist masterpieces and the legacy of Paul Durand-Ruel.
