Monsoon Rains to Continue Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Possible in Five Provinces

Nepal is currently experiencing monsoon conditions, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reporting that the monsoon low-pressure line is positioned around its average location. This indicates a continuation of the rainy season across the country.

Light to moderate rainfall is being observed in various parts of Nepal, including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division anticipates similar weather patterns to persist through the afternoon. The Himalayan region may receive moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Hilly regions are also expected to experience rain, with some Tarai areas in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces potentially facing thunderstorms and moderate rainfall.

A specific warning has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two locations within the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, strong winds could affect some Tarai regions in Koshi and Madhesh provinces. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant.

Looking ahead to the night, the Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy. Tarai areas in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces will be mostly cloudy, while other Tarai regions will experience partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rain and snowfall, with thunder and lightning, are forecast for parts of the Himalayan region. Hilly areas may also see moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. Several Tarai provinces, including Koshi, Lumbini, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim, are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
