Montpellier: 18-Year-Old Killed by Stray Bullet Outside Nightclub

A violent altercation outside a Montpellier nightclub resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man, who was struck by a stray bullet. The victim, identified as Issam, was reportedly waiting for an Uber with his cousin when a fight broke out on the premises.

According to witnesses and preliminary reports, the incident began inside the L'Élite nightclub when a customer expressed dissatisfaction with his bill. The dispute escalated, leading to a physical confrontation involving patrons and possibly security staff on the parking lot.

As the brawl intensified, shots were fired. Issam and his cousin sought cover in a ditch, but he was hit by a bullet that traversed his skull. The cousin stated that Issam had no connection to the fight. Police discovered four shell casings at the scene, along with a discarded mobile phone, a passport belonging to one of the individuals involved in the altercation, and a crushed pair of glasses.

Investigators are examining a Volkswagen parked near the entrance, with its glove compartment open, as a potential clue. The shooting highlights the volatile atmosphere that can erupt from seemingly minor disputes, leading to tragic and unintended consequences.
