MOP maintains operation to address road damage from rains in Chiriquí Grande, Bocas del Toro

Panama's Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has initiated a continuous operation in the Chiriquí Grande district of Bocas del Toro province to tackle the road infrastructure damage resulting from recent heavy rainfall.

Under the direction of Public Works Minister José Luis Andrade, technical teams and heavy machinery are actively engaged in the affected areas. Their primary objectives are to thoroughly assess the extent of the damage and implement necessary repairs to ensure the safe resumption of vehicular traffic. The MOP is collaborating closely with the contractor responsible for the region to bolster repair efforts, extending assistance even to sectors not directly under the Maintenance Department's purview.

The ongoing actions involve addressing damaged streams, underpasses, and other road sections impacted by the rains. Specialized equipment and personnel are being utilized to carry out these repairs. The MOP has stated that the repairs will be carried out progressively, with immediate attention given to locations exhibiting the most severe damage and posing the greatest risk to drivers and nearby communities. Simultaneously, engineers and technicians are conducting inspections to evaluate the overall condition of the road infrastructure and coordinate further necessary interventions.

The MOP's efforts aim to rehabilitate the damaged road sections as swiftly as possible, ensuring safe mobility conditions for the residents of Chiriquí Grande. This response highlights the government's commitment to maintaining critical infrastructure amidst adverse weather conditions.
