More than 25 million people covered by mandatory health insurance in 2025

More than 25 million people benefited from mandatory health insurance in Morocco during 2025, according to figures presented by the National Social Security Fund.

The fund said the number of employees registered with it reached 4.24 million last year, an increase of 4% from 2024. Declared wages rose from 222.51 billion dirhams to 244.84 billion dirhams, representing growth of 10%.

Required contributions reached 36.46 billion dirhams, up 9% from the previous year. Benefits paid also increased, from 29.7 billion dirhams in 2024 to 31.5 billion dirhams in 2025.

The fund linked the results to stronger collection efforts and measures against social fraud. It carried out 10,411 inspection and monitoring operations during 2025, 22% more than in 2024. Those operations regularized the status of 151,682 employees, a 24% increase, and covered a declared wage bill of 6.6 billion dirhams, up 63% year on year.
