Morelos governor touts honest government hours before mayor's arrest

Morelos Governor Margarita González Saravia declared her administration is honest, responsible, and close to the people, mirroring President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo's humanist governance. She made these remarks in Coatetelco, Morelos, during the "Caravanas del pueblo: territories of peace and good living" event.

However, just hours after her statement, the mayor of Cuautla, Jesús Corona Damián, was arrested in Acapulco, Guerrero. The Mesa de Construcción de Paz y Seguridad Morelos confirmed the capture and praised the coordinated work of federal institutions, led by the Secretary of Security of the Government of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch.

In a statement, the security officials reiterated their commitment to legality, security, and peacebuilding across Morelos's 36 municipalities. They noted that such actions reinforce the "Morelos por la Seguridad" strategy and demonstrate the government's commitment to combating corruption, upholding the rule of law, and enforcing a policy of zero impunity.
