Morena Leader Slams Governor Campos Over 'Treason' Remarks

Ariadna Montiel Reyes, the national leader of Morena, has sharply criticized Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos. Montiel accused Campos of hypocrisy for speaking about national integrity while allegedly facilitating foreign involvement in security matters within Chihuahua.

The exchange began when Campos criticized Morena and the federal government. She responded to claims that her state was being used to protect the reputation of Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda. Ávila Olmeda is reportedly under scrutiny following leaked audio suggesting discussions with the FBI about her canceled visa and meetings in Panama and Tijuana.

Campos had stated that the federal government tried to use Chihuahua to "clean Morena's name" and urged the government to prioritize the nation over the party. In response, Montiel stated that Campos has "a lot of nerve" to lecture on patriotism. Montiel reminded Campos of her alleged involvement with foreign agencies in security operations in Mexican territory, which she claimed led to the deaths of two U.S. agents in Chihuahua.

"You provided them with VIP facilities while letting them carry out functions that correspond to you. But of course, work is not your thing!" Montiel stated. She further accused Campos of "selling out disguised as a security strategy" and called her "a cynic, a traitor to the homeland."
