Morning temperatures to plunge to 12C, making commutes chilly

Morning temperatures in parts of South Korea are expected to drop to 12C on the 8th, bringing a noticeably chilly start to the day. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast nationwide lows of 12C to 21C and highs of 24C to 31C.

Morning temperatures will sit slightly below seasonal averages, while daytime readings will remain close to normal. Forecast lows include 18C in Seoul and Incheon, 14C in Chuncheon, 16C in Gangneung, Daejeon and Daegu, 18C in Jeonju, 19C in Gwangju, 20C in Busan and 23C on Jeju Island.

The day will warm quickly, however, with highs of 30C in Seoul, 29C in Incheon, 28C in Chuncheon, 25C in Gangneung, 28C in Daejeon, 29C in Daegu, 30C in Jeonju, 31C in Gwangju, 30C in Busan and 28C in Jeju.

Rain will spread to parts of the east coast from late afternoon, beginning around the Gangwon coast and mountainous areas. From the 8th to the 9th, rainfall is forecast at 5 to 40 millimeters in the Gangwon mountains and 5 to 20 millimeters along the Gangwon coast.
