Moroccan coach Badou Ezzaki appointed Jordan's technical director

Moroccan football legend Badou Ezzaki has been appointed as the technical director for the Jordanian national football team. The Jordanian Football Association announced the decision on Sunday, bringing Ezzaki in on a one-year contract. He succeeds his fellow Moroccan, Jamal Sellami, who recently resigned.

Ezzaki, a celebrated figure in Moroccan football history, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. As a player, he was a goalkeeper who achieved historic success with the national team at the 1986 World Cup and was named African Footballer of the Year in 1986. His coaching career includes leading the Moroccan national team to the final of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations and managing several Moroccan clubs and the national teams of Sudan and Niger.

The appointment comes after the Jordanian Football Association's board, chaired by Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, accepted Sellami's resignation. Ezzaki had previously expressed openness to coaching the Jordanian team, viewing it as a significant opportunity. The association will soon announce the assistant coaching staff that Ezzaki will select. This move signals Jordan's ambition to strengthen its technical staff ahead of crucial upcoming tournaments, notably the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
