Moroccan court ends football club leadership dispute

A legal battle over the presidency of the Chabab Al Massira football club has concluded, with the Administrative Court of Appeal in Agadir upholding a prior ruling that confirms Ali Bida's legal status as club president. This decision resolves an administrative and judicial dispute that has persisted since the club's ordinary general assembly in September 2024.

The final judicial ruling in favor of the elected board constitutes a consolidation of the rule of law and reflects confidence in the independence of the Moroccan judiciary and its ability to resolve disputes in accordance with legal provisions.

The conflict arose after Ali Bida was elected president by a majority of members following the approval of the club's literary and financial reports for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons. However, the elected board could not complete the process of obtaining the final certificate, preventing them from assuming their legal responsibilities. A caretaker committee managed the club's affairs during this transitional period.

This situation led to a series of appeals and legal actions, primarily concerning the legality of the general assembly's outcomes and the implications of not finalizing administrative procedures. The dispute created organizational instability and a dual management structure within the club, with calls for the elected board to be allowed to function according to the law governing sports associations.
