Moroccan Gendarmerie Seizes Trucks in Sand Theft Crackdown

The Royal Gendarmerie in Tangier continues its diligent efforts to combat the persistent issue of illegal sand mining from our beloved northern coast. In a significant operation, two trucks were apprehended red-handed, along with their drivers, who were actively engaged in plundering our beaches.

These swift actions, carried out on Friday, thwarted attempts to smuggle stolen beach sand. The first truck was intercepted in the Huwara coastal area, found laden with a substantial quantity of sand illegally extracted from the shore. Later that same day, a second truck was seized in the Hajar Al-Nahal region, also carrying sand looted from the Huwara beach.

The apprehended drivers are currently in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigations. This operation underscores the Gendarmerie's unwavering commitment to protecting our natural resources and bringing those who exploit them to justice. The sandy shores near Tangier, particularly between Tangier and Asilah, have long been a target for sand theft networks, and our forces remain vigilant in their pursuit and apprehension of these culprits.
