Morocco and Italy Explore Expanding Cinematic Partnership

The "La Dolce Vita in Mogador" festival, organized by the "La Dolce Vita in Mogador" association, is more than just a traditional film festival; it serves as a vital meeting point for Italian and Moroccan cinema. Festival coordinator Gabriele Milletti emphasized that the event aims to foster direct interaction between the art community and the public in Essaouira. He noted the 'magical' experience of audiences meeting actors face-to-face, adding a tangible dimension to the cinematic experience that transcends casual viewing. This human connection is central to the festival's future development. Milletti also highlighted the initiative's educational role, encouraging young people to look beyond quick, screen-based consumption and appreciate cinema's deeper emotional and interactive qualities. He stressed that the festival's strength lies in its humanistic approach and intimate scale, prioritizing genuine cultural exchange over the grandeur of larger festivals. Andrea Agostini, president of the "Marche" Foundation for Culture (Fondazione Marche Cultura), affirmed the foundation's strategy to boost cultural exchange and promote the Marche region as a leading film destination. The "Marche Film Commission" acts as an executive arm, leveraging European funds to support audiovisual productions. Agostini pointed out that the region's appeal extends beyond financial aid, offering comprehensive logistical and administrative support, which has naturally attracted productions. The foundation facilitates location scouting and coordination with local authorities, providing access to qualified technical personnel.
