Morocco's Progress Party Demands Urgent Action on Migration Crisis

The Progress and Socialism Party (PPS) has voiced deep concern over the recent wave of irregular mass migration towards the occupied enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla. The party views this phenomenon as a stark reflection of Morocco's severe economic and social crisis, which is pushing broad segments of the population, particularly youth, to seek better prospects abroad.

We are following with deep concern and great regret the events related to the attempts of tens of thousands of citizens, mostly youth, to cross into occupied Ceuta in irregular mass migration.

In a statement from its political bureau, the PPS expressed solidarity with the families of victims who died during these perilous attempts to cross. The party argues that the current situation highlights the limitations of the adopted development model and the unequal distribution of wealth, both socially and regionally. It criticizes the government's public policies, especially in employment and education, for failing to address the root causes of this desperation.

The party is demanding immediate humanitarian assistance for Moroccan citizens in Ceuta and its surrounding areas, urging their protection from any racist practices. Simultaneously, it rejects any attacks on public forces or property. The PPS calls on the government to break its silence, provide explanations for the events, and announce measures to mitigate their consequences.

Furthermore, the Progress and Socialism Party advocates for a revision of the economic model to foster structural transformation, create wealth and jobs, and establish a social system that ensures equitable distribution of resources. With legislative elections approaching, the party believes this moment calls for a decisive break from current economic and social policies to achieve democratic change, enhance dignity and social justice, and restore faith in Morocco's institutions.
