Morocco strengthens its position as a destination for stability

Morocco has solidified its standing as a stable destination, securing the 65th position globally out of 163 countries in the 20th edition of the Global Peace Index 2026. The report, issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), shows the Kingdom advanced over 20 places from its 2025 ranking. This achievement underscores ongoing efforts to bolster internal peace and security amid escalating regional and global security challenges.

The index notes a general decline in global peace for the twelfth consecutive year, with most regions affected by rising conflicts and tensions. Morocco, however, maintained a balanced and calm internal state. It ranked seventh in Africa and fourth in the Arab world, following Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. This success reflects effective national policies in managing security and fostering social peace.

The Middle East and North Africa region remains one of the least peaceful globally, grappling with protracted conflicts and increasing regional tensions. Within this context, Morocco emerges as a stable regional example, distancing itself from conflict zones. This positioning enhances its reputation as a reliable international partner contributing to regional security.
