Morocco weather forecast: Hot conditions persist with scattered showers in Atlas mountains

Morocco is bracing for continued hot weather across a significant portion of the country on Saturday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology. Regions including the eastern and southern desert areas, the southeast, and the northern and central plains, along with Sais and the interior of the Souss region, are expected to experience high temperatures.

However, the forecast also indicates the possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms. These are anticipated over the High and Middle Atlas mountains and their adjacent areas, with localized occurrences expected in the southeast and the northeastern desert territories. Additionally, low clouds accompanied by fog patches or very light rain may form over the Atlantic coasts and plains, as well as the Mediterranean coasts.

Temperatures are set to vary significantly. Minimum temperatures will range from 10 to 16 degrees Celsius in the Atlas and Rif mountains. In contrast, the Loukkos, Gharb, Souss, Phosphate plateaus, Tadla plains, Chichaoua, and the southeastern regions, as well as the eastern and southern parts of the southern provinces, will see lows between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius. Other areas will experience lows between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures are predicted to decrease in the northern and central plains and the northern desert regions. Moderate to strong winds are expected in Tangier, with moderate winds locally in the Atlas highlands, central Atlantic plains, and desert areas, potentially bringing localized sandstorms.
