Moscow Has Not Ruled Out Trilateral Putin-Trump-Xi Meeting, TASS Reports

Moscow has not closed the door on a meeting bringing together the presidents of Russia, the United States and China. But Russia says the gathering cannot move into practical preparations until the participants know what they would discuss and what they might achieve.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov made the comments on Sept. 6, state news agency TASS reported. “Here, the main question boils down to how the substance of the meeting will be formulated, and what we can expect as a result,” he said.

The possibility of a meeting between Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping had already been raised earlier in September by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov. He suggested it could take place during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen, China, in November.
