Moscow warns of 'consequences' after reports of UK-made drones hitting Russia

Russia has issued a stern warning to the United Kingdom, vowing "consequences" following reports that Ukraine has employed drones of British manufacture to conduct attacks inside Russian territory. The strong reaction came after The Sunday Times reported that Kyiv had utilized unmanned aerial vehicles produced by two British firms against military and industrial sites within Russia.

The Russian embassy in London declared the UK to be an "accomplice and co-author" of these strikes, accusing London of "deliberately choosing escalation." The statement added, "The actions of London will inevitably have consequences, for which they will have to answer." It further asserted, "The deeper their involvement in the conflict and the greater their support for Kiev's terrorist machinery, the higher the price they will have to pay."

According to The Sunday Times, one of the implicated companies is a subsidiary of the defense giant BAE Systems. The newspaper withheld the name of the second firm, citing security concerns. The British Ministry of Defence has not yet responded to requests for comment.

The United Kingdom has positioned itself as one of Ukraine's staunchest allies since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022. London has pledged approximately 25 billion pounds ($33 billion) in aid to Kyiv, with military assistance accounting for 16 billion pounds of that total. In recent months, Ukraine has intensified its long-range strikes into Russian territory, while Moscow has escalated its own offensive with missiles and drones targeting the Ukrainian capital.
