Most Americans say Iran war isn't worth fighting: Poll

Most Americans now believe the war in Iran has not been worth the cost, according to a new AP-NORC poll. President Donald Trump's approval rating on his handling of the conflict has also seen a slight dip.

The poll results represent a significant rejection of the Republican president's approach to the war, which has now continued longer than he initially predicted. Approximately two-thirds of U.S. adults, including most Democrats and independents, and about 37% of Republicans, stated the war, which began on February 28, has not been worthwhile.

These findings come as the U.S. and Iran paused attacks following a nearly two-week escalation. During this period, the U.S. targeted Iranian military and commercial sites, while Iran attacked U.S. military facilities in the Middle East, leading to additional American service member casualties. Since the war's inception, 18 U.S. service members have died.
