Mother faints after learning her missing son has been found

A 2.5-year-old boy who disappeared while his parents were picking figs in Bursa was found crying in bushes beside a road, prompting his mother to faint with joy.

Emir Ğırnebi had gone missing in the Kuşdili area of Dürdane neighbourhood, where his Syrian family had arrived as seasonal workers. After the family realised he was no longer in the garden and failed to find him nearby, they alerted Turkey’s 112 emergency call centre.

Search and rescue teams arrived after the report at 10:30 a.m. A total of 124 personnel and 24 vehicles joined the operation, with drones, a thermal drone, an unmanned aerial vehicle, all-terrain vehicles and search dogs also deployed. Teams included AFAD, gendarmerie units and several volunteer and municipal rescue organisations.

Rescuers found Emir during the third hour of the search, in bushes beside the Bursa-Gemlik road, around 500 metres from the place where he had disappeared. His mother fainted after learning that he had been found. Emir was in good health and was handed back to his family.
