Mother stranded with baby after British Airways refuses boarding over error it admits

Fleur Lonsdale was left at Auckland Airport with her one-year-old son after British Airways refused to let them board a flight because of a ticket error the airline later admitted.

Lonsdale was travelling from New Zealand to Europe with her son, Oakley, in late May for her mother’s birthday. She described the experience as a parent’s nightmare: being unexpectedly stranded at an airport with a small child.

She said reassurance provided through the airline’s online service did not resolve the problem when she arrived at Auckland Airport.
