Motion Rejected, Roy Suryo Opens Discourse on Fourth Pre-trial

Roy Suryo's legal battle continues as the South Jakarta District Court has rejected his pre-trial motion challenging his designation as a suspect in the case involving alleged fake diplomas of President Joko Widodo. The court's decision means Suryo's legal challenge to his suspect status has been unsuccessful at this stage.

I, as an individual, still appreciate the decision, and still express my gratitude for our first pre-trial decision, where at that time he, the same person, decided to then say the arrest, sorry correction, the arrest, detention, and also the search were illegal.

Following the ruling, Suryo stated that he respects the court's decision and expressed gratitude for a previous pre-trial ruling. In that earlier case, the same judge had declared Suryo's arrest, detention, and search unlawful. This prior victory appears to be a point of reference for Suryo as his legal team evaluates their next moves.

Suryo indicated that the decision on subsequent legal actions rests with his legal counsel. This includes the possibility of filing a fourth pre-trial motion. He mentioned that a third pre-trial motion has already been registered and is scheduled for a hearing on July 28, focusing on seeking compensation based on the initial favorable ruling.

This latest pre-trial motion was the second filed by Suryo concerning the fake diploma case. His first pre-trial motion, which addressed the legality of the search, arrest, and detention by the Metro Jaya Regional Police, was partially granted by the court in early July. The judge ruled that the coercive measures were formally flawed and thus invalid. However, the judge clarified that this procedural issue did not automatically invalidate the entire investigation file.

Despite the partial success in the first pre-trial motion regarding procedural flaws, the judge rejected Suryo's request for the restoration of his honor and dignity.
