Motorcyclist Dies in Hsinchu Hit-and-Run; Driver Sought

A tragic accident in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, claimed the life of a 48-year-old female motorcyclist on the evening of March 14. The collision occurred at the intersection of Yuanpei Street and Lane 22 in the Xiangshan District around 7:42 p.m.

The victim, identified by her surname Yang, was riding her motorcycle when it collided with a car that was attempting to turn left. According to reports, Yang was subsequently run over by the car, sustaining severe head injuries. Despite wearing a helmet, the trauma was fatal. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Yang was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

Adding to the tragedy, the driver of the car fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police investigations, aided by surveillance footage from the intersection, revealed that the car drove towards Sanxingqiao Train Station after the incident. The vehicle was later found abandoned near the train station, but the driver was not present.

Authorities have stated that they have identified a specific individual they believe to be the driver responsible and are actively pursuing them. Police are appealing to the driver to come forward voluntarily to provide their account of the accident and assist in the investigation into the cause of the fatal crash. The investigation is ongoing.
