Motorcyclist nabbed with abducted three-year-old girl in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has once again demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding our children with the swift arrest of a commercial motorcyclist, Kelvin Ogaga, suspected of abducting a three-year-old girl. The arrest followed a complaint received on May 18, 2026, from the father of the victim, who reported that the suspect had abducted his three-year-old daughter, a commercial motorcyclist who was entrusted with taking the child on daily school runs.

According to the police PRO, Bright Edafe, Ogaga exploited his trusted position, ferrying the child to school daily, to perpetrate this heinous crime. The demand for a N500,000 ransom, followed by the family's payment and subsequent negotiation, highlights the agonizing ordeal the victim's parents endured. It is a relief to know that, thanks to the intervention of our diligent police force and the use of credible technical intelligence, the child has been safely recovered.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly kidnapped the child and subsequently demanded a ransom of N500,000 from the family. After negotiations, the family paid the demanded ransom to secure the release of the child.

The recovery of N127,000 of the ransom money and the motorcycle used in the abduction further solidifies the case against the suspect. While this arrest is a significant success, it also prompts reflection on the need for enhanced vetting and oversight of individuals entrusted with the care of our most vulnerable.
