Motorcyclist unconscious after collision at Taitung intersection

A serious motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Zhonghua and Fengrong Roads in Taitung City on the evening of June 29, leaving one male rider unconscious. The collision involved a 19-year-old female rider who had just exited a convenience store and a 29-year-old male rider proceeding straight through the intersection.

The female rider turned from the convenience store's entrance into the southbound direction and collided with the straight-moving male rider.

According to initial police assessments, the female rider, identified by the surname Lin, turned into the northbound lane of Zhonghua Road from the convenience store's exit. She then entered the southbound lane, where she collided with the male rider, identified by the surname Ma, who was traveling straight. The impact caused both riders and their motorcycles to fall. Lin sustained multiple bruises, while Ma lost consciousness and has remained so since the accident.

Surveillance footage showed the female rider turning from the convenience store directly into the path of the oncoming male rider. The force of the collision scattered debris and motorcycle parts across the road, drawing the attention of nearby pedestrians and business owners. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, though they suspect Lin may not have exercised sufficient caution when starting her journey.
