Wail Mouhya, a promising young talent at German club Borussia Mönchengladbach, is currently at a crossroads regarding his international football future. The 17-year-old, who possesses both German and Moroccan citizenship, is reportedly weighing offers from the football federations of both nations.

Mouhya has been drawing attention during his team's pre-season training camp with his technical skills and speed. Despite the expectations placed upon him, the player emphasizes a desire to maintain his natural style of play. "My goal remains the same, I want to continue playing spontaneously and not occupy myself with many other things," Mouhya stated, according to German newspaper Kicker. Having represented various youth levels for Germany, Mouhya is now the subject of persistent efforts from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. He has previously acknowledged contact from Morocco, telling Kicker in March that while there had been discussions, he had not yet made a decision and needed time. Reports in mid-July suggested he had chosen Morocco, but Mouhya refuted these claims, reiterating his need for time to decide.

For now, Mouhya's focus is on his club commitments. "I repeat what I said before, everything is still open, I will give myself time to make the decision," he said during his team's camp. "My goal now is to get out of the preparation period healthy and have a strong start to the league. That's what's most important, the rest will come later." Mouhya played 17 official matches for Borussia Mönchengladbach's first team in his debut season, scoring two goals and setting several club records for his age.
