Movimiento Ciudadano Eyes Anayeli Muñoz for Aguascalientes Governorship; Leader Calls Her Best Option

Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) is positioning Deputy Anayeli Muñoz as its leading contender for the Aguascalientes governorship in the 2027 elections. National party leader Jorge Álvarez Máynez declared Muñoz as the party's strongest candidate, citing her popularity and preparedness.

During the MC State Convention, where Luz Camila Guerra was named state coordinator, Máynez highlighted Muñoz's strong standing. He emphasized that she is not only popular but also well-prepared, making her the party's principal choice for the gubernatorial race. The party also presented profiles for other local elections, including Karla Espinoza for Aguascalientes municipal presidency.

Máynez also took the opportunity to criticize the federal government's approach to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. He described the event as elitist and inaccessible due to high ticket prices. Furthermore, he pointed to a lack of comprehensive vision from the federal government regarding relevant infrastructure projects that could serve as a legacy from the sporting event. He contrasted this with efforts in Nuevo León and Jalisco, which undertook connectivity projects with their own resources, noting Nuevo León's construction of 550 public sports fields as a model for benefiting youth.
