Moving Abroad: After Farewell to BVB, Brandt Chooses Ajax

Julian Brandt is set to continue his career at Ajax Amsterdam, having signed a contract with the Dutch club until 2029 following his departure from Borussia Dortmund. The 30-year-old midfielder's move to the Netherlands was confirmed by Ajax, with reports suggesting interest from other major clubs including Juventus Turin, Galatasaray Istanbul, and Leeds United.

Ajax's Technical Director, Jordi Cruyff, expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating, "We were in talks for several months, and he also had the opportunity to sign with other clubs." Cruyff believes Brandt's international experience and "fantastic mentality" will significantly strengthen the Ajax squad.

Brandt joined Dortmund in 2019 from Bayer Leverkusen and played over 300 competitive matches for the club. However, his role became less prominent towards the end of his tenure, leading both the player and the club to agree not to extend his expiring contract. There is speculation that German national team goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, currently at FC Barcelona, might also be a candidate to join Ajax after recovering from an injury.
