Mr P says P-Square's 2021 reunion was 'fake', details family rift

Peter Okoye, known as Mr P and one half of the defunct music duo P-Square, has begun detailing his account of the family disputes that have repeatedly fractured the Nigerian music group. In social media videos, Okoye alleged that the group's widely publicized 2021 reunion was never intended to revive P-Square musically.

Instead, Okoye claimed the reunion aimed solely to mend the relationship between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), and their elder brother Jude Okoye. He stated his preference for them to continue their solo careers while supporting each other's music. He also alleged that after the reunion, Rudeboy and Jude asked him to sign documents to revive P-Square under a new bank account, which he declined to preserve the family bond.

Okoye further alleged financial disagreements, including a ₦90 million loan dispute between Rudeboy and Jude before the reunion. He also claimed that prospective buyers offered billions of naira for the P-Square music catalogue post-reunion, but the transaction collapsed due to alleged irregularities in backend records during due diligence.

These revelations follow a recent public exchange between the brothers. Earlier this week, Mr P apologized for comments about indigenous languages that drew criticism. Shortly after, Rudeboy posted content interpreted by social media users as a response. Neither Rudeboy nor Jude Okoye has publicly commented on Mr P's latest allegations.
