Msgr Lawrence Ssemusu Warns Christians Against Gambling With Their Faith

Monsignor Lawrence Ssemusu, chaplain at Makerere University Business School, has called on Christians to abandon indecision and commit firmly to their faith, drawing parallels with the steadfastness of the Uganda Martyrs. Speaking during Mass at St Gyaviira Catholic Sub-Parish in Seguku-Lweza, in honor of the parish patron saint Gyaviira Musoke, Msgr. Ssemusu urged believers to "not gamble with your faith" and to make "a firm decision about where you stand." He encouraged attendees to emulate the courage and unwavering commitment of St. Gyaviira and the other Uganda Martyrs, who he noted should serve as a model for contemporary believers. "Be firm Catholics who are not shaken, just like Gyaviira," he added. The celebrations, themed "Christ lives in me," also coincided with reflections on the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. Msgr. Ssemusu underscored the Eucharist's role in strengthening Christian life and church unity. The event also included a presentation of the parish's past achievements and future plans as it prepares for its 50th anniversary.
