MTB Carlo de Gavardo Draws Thousands of Cyclists and Crowns Champions in Historic Edition

Thousands of cyclists and spectators gathered at Cerro Huelquén in Paine for the 12th edition of the MTB Carlo de Gavardo La Vacada, an event that brought together competitors from more than 15 nationalities.

The race attracted 2,000 cyclists and more than 10,000 spectators. Elite riders, amateurs and families shared a course that began at the Caupolicán Stadium in Huelquén before passing through roads, forests, trails and water crossings on the De Gavardo family estate.

A delegation from Rapa Nui also joined the competition, while officials took part in some of the event's routes. The gathering combined competitive racing with a broad community turnout around one of Chile's best-known mountain biking events.

Tomás de Gavardo, one of the event's main organizers, praised the latest edition. "I think this is by far the best version we have had in the entire history of the MTB Carlo de Gavardo, because of the terrain, the flawless course and the work team," he said.

In the leading 45-kilometer Advanced Challenge category, Chilean rider Patricio Farías took the title.
