Mulino travels to Peru for Keiko Fujimori's presidential inauguration

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino is set to travel to Lima on Monday, July 27, to attend the presidential transition ceremony where Keiko Fujimori will assume the presidency of Peru for the 2026-2031 term. The event will be attended by heads of state, government authorities, and representatives from various countries.

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that eight Latin American leaders and King Felipe VI of Spain are scheduled to attend Fujimori's inauguration on July 28. Attendees include Javier Milei of Argentina, Rodrigo Paz of Bolivia, José Kast of Chile, Santiago Peña of Paraguay, Yamandú Orsi of Uruguay, José Mulino of Panama, Nasry Asfura of Honduras, and Daniel Noboa of Ecuador.

Recently, President Mulino and Peru's President-elect Fujimori held a video call. They agreed that it is an opportune moment to re-energize the Panama-Peru Free Trade Agreement for the benefit of both nations. During their conversation, Mulino invited Fujimori to visit Panama in January 2027 for the International Economic Forum Latin America and the Caribbean, organized in the capital by CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Keiko Fujimori, 51, won the elections in Peru on June 7. Previously, she served as a legislator and was first lady during the government of her father, the late former President Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000).
