Munich Subway Lines 3 and 6 to Operate Normally During Oktoberfest Amid Renovations

Munich's subway lines 3 and 6 are set to resume normal service in time for Oktoberfest, according to the city's public transport authority. The lines will operate without restrictions starting September 19, a crucial development for the city's famous festival.

However, this period of full service will be short-lived. After October 4, the section between Sendlinger Tor and Implerstraße will revert to single-track operation for nearly two months. Following a winter break with regular service from late November to mid-April 2027, the same section will face another complete closure until August 2027.

The extensive construction work is necessary for the thorough renovation of the aging Poccistraße and Goetheplatz subway stations. During the periods of disruption, passengers will be required to use replacement buses to navigate the affected routes.

The subway can, according to the current status, run again without restrictions from Saturday, September 19, and thus during Oktoberfest.
