Museveni Hails Operation Wealth Creation at Uganda's 32nd National Agricultural Show

President Yoweri Museveni lauded Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) as a vital component of Uganda's socio-economic development at the opening of the 32nd National Agricultural Show in Jinja. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja officially opened the event on his behalf, also launching the Wealth Creation Village, an exhibition showcasing OWC's programs designed to enhance agricultural output and increase household earnings.

The National Agricultural Show is unique because it brings together all key players in the agricultural sector. It provides a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, technology transfer and business networking. I urge Ugandans to use the exhibitions to improve productivity and incomes.

In a speech delivered by the Prime Minister, Museveni specifically recognized Salim Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of OWC, for his significant contributions to improving incomes and facilitating the transition from subsistence to commercial farming. The President highlighted the National Agricultural Show as a crucial platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and business networking within the agricultural sector, urging Ugandans to leverage the event for productivity gains.

Museveni also commended the Parish Development Model (PDM), which OWC supports, for its role in empowering communities to escape poverty. He expressed gratitude to Japan for its ongoing assistance in Uganda's agricultural development. The State Minister for Animal Industry, Bright Rwamirama, acknowledged OWC's support for smallholder farmers through the Ministry of Agriculture.

The President also commended the Parish Development Model (PDM), which is supported by OWC, saying it is empowering communities to move from poverty to prosperity.

Brig. Gen. G.K. Muwanguzi, representing Gen. Salim Saleh, encouraged Ugandans to invest in agriculture as a sustainable path to wealth. He stated that OWC continues to supply seedlings, value-addition technologies, and modern farming techniques to boost production and incomes. The event drew various stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, agribusinesses, development partners, and policymakers, all focused on advancing Uganda's agricultural sector and promoting commercial farming.
