Muslims also believe in Jesus: Kaohsiung Mosque hosts 'Jesus Exhibition'

The Kaohsiung Mosque became a unique venue for interfaith dialogue as it hosted the "Jesus Exhibition" on August 29-30. Organized by the Al Hadi Taiwan Islamic Education and Cultural Center (Al Hadi TIECC), the event invited individuals from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds to explore the figure of Jesus through an Islamic lens.

The exhibition sought to provide a platform for open and friendly exchange, allowing attendees to directly engage with Muslims and understand Islam's perspective on Jesus, biblical figures, and Christianity. Organizers emphasized that in Islam, Jesus (Isa) holds a significant position. Muslims believe he is a prophet and messenger of Allah, the Messiah, miraculously born to the Virgin Mary (Maryam), and empowered by Allah to perform miracles.

this exhibition hopes to lead the general public to re-understand Jesus from an Islamic perspective through the familiar theme of 'Jesus', and to provide an open and friendly exchange platform, giving the public the opportunity to directly dialogue with Muslims and understand how Islam views Jesus, biblical figures, and Christianity.

The Quran frequently mentions Jesus and Mary, recounting Jesus's call for the worship of one God. Therefore, for Muslims, belief in Jesus is not optional but an integral part of their faith. They revere prophets like Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad as messengers from the same Creator.

In the Islamic faith, Jesus (Arabic: ʿĪsā) holds a very important position. Muslims believe that Jesus is a prophet and messenger of Allah, and the Messiah (Christ). They believe he was miraculously born of the Virgin Mary (Maryam) and that Allah gave him the power to perform miracles.

Al Hadi TIECC stated that while awareness of Islam in Taiwan has grown, misunderstandings about Muslim life, faith, and values persist. The "Jesus Exhibition" was not intended to compare or criticize religions but to use the familiar figure of Jesus as a bridge for mutual understanding and dialogue.
