Mwinyi urges integrity in Zanzibar digital justice reforms

Zanzibar President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has underscored the critical role of integrity in modernizing the justice system through digital reforms. Speaking at the 26th Annual General Meeting of the Zanzibar Law Society (ZLS), themed “Embracing Digital Technology for an Improved and Accessible Justice System in Zanzibar,” Dr. Mwinyi stressed that technology must be anchored in integrity, accountability, and patriotism among legal professionals. He cautioned that digital tools enhance efficiency but should not replace the human elements of fairness and public trust. "Technology should be a tool to enhance efficiency and not a reason to remove humanity, equality, and public trust in justice institutions," President Mwinyi stated. He further emphasized the goal of building a trusted and accessible legal system for all Zanzibaris, irrespective of discrimination. The president highlighted the potential of a technology-driven justice system to reach a wider citizen base, improving access to legal services across the archipelago.
