MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell steps down to run for Minnesota governor

Mike Lindell, the founder and CEO of MyPillow, is stepping down from his company to fully commit to his campaign for governor of Minnesota.

Lindell announced his decision on social media Tuesday, stating that MyPillow is now robust enough to operate without his direct leadership. "This decision is not about walking away. It is about stepping forward to serve. I am putting Minnesota above myself, my title, and my business interests so I can give this campaign and the people of our state my full time, energy, and attention," Lindell said.

A prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, Lindell has invested heavily in efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election. He has expressed a desire to disrupt the current political landscape in Minnesota, arguing that the establishment has failed its citizens. "The establishment hasn’t done anything for us," he stated. "People can’t afford to live and I wanna make Minnesota affordable again."

Lindell, a Minnesota native, is currently involved in a legal battle concerning his gubernatorial campaign. State senate hopeful Dan Fiskum filed a lawsuit on July 22, alleging that Lindell violated campaign finance policies by distributing pillows branded with "Mike Lindell for Governor." Lindell has vehemently denied these accusations, calling them "a complete lie" and expressing confidence in a favorable ruling.

He further claims that his campaign consulted the state's campaign finance board before distributing the promotional pillows, which he estimates cost less than $5 each. Lindell views the lawsuit as a "hit job" and an "attack" orchestrated because the Republican party is displeased with his endorsement from Donald Trump. Minnesota's primary elections are scheduled for August 11.
