Mysterious Arsonist Continues Reign of Fire in Bandung-Cimahi

A series of mysterious arson attacks has plagued the Bandung and Cimahi regions of West Java for almost two weeks, leaving residents bewildered and authorities searching for a suspect with unclear motives and seemingly random targets.

The latest incident occurred in the Cijerah sub-district of Bandung, where a hooded individual set fire to several objects, including motorcycles, clotheslines, and car covers belonging to residents. Surveillance camera footage capturing the suspect's actions has since circulated widely on social media, fueling public concern.

Local police have confirmed they are actively investigating the case, acknowledging the strong possibility that the suspect and modus operandi match previous arson incidents in the Andir and Astanaanyar areas of Bandung, as well as in Cimahi. Investigators are collecting evidence and examining crime scenes to determine the motive behind this string of deliberate fires.

Descriptions of the suspect consistently point to a person wearing a black hoodie and a backpack, carrying out the attacks in the early morning hours. The random nature of the targets and the lack of a clear motive have made this case particularly challenging for law enforcement. The attacks have primarily occurred in areas of Bandung and Cimahi that are adjacent or in close proximity to each other, suggesting a pattern in the perpetrator's movements.
