President Bola Tinubu has challenged governors from Nigeria's six northeastern states to enhance their fight against terrorism and banditry, asserting that the nation has achieved economic stability and entered a "golden age."

Tinubu issued this charge during a meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa with a delegation of political leaders and senior government officials from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states. He acknowledged the leadership challenges posed by terrorism and banditry in the region, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration. The President expressed confidence in Nigeria's future, declaring, "The golden age is here now. He assured the delegation that his administration is committed to progress and will not falter in its pursuit of democratic stability and prosperity. Tinubu also reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development in the Northeast, referencing the flag-off of the Akwanga-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri superhighway as a fulfillment of earlier promises.

Addressing pensioners present at the meeting, President Tinubu acknowledged that his administration is working to clear pension backlogs inherited from previous governments. He also paid tribute to former Vice President Babagana Kingibe, recalling their shared history in progressive politics. Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum, who led the delegation, stated that the visit was a formal expression of gratitude for President Tinubu's decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general election.
