N69m fraud: Lagos court grants Blessing CEO N20m bail

A Lagos State Special Offences Court has granted bail to social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, in the sum of N20 million. The bail comes as she stands trial for alleged fraud and obtaining money by false pretenses amounting to N69.15 million.

Justice Rahman Oshodi granted the bail after considering Okoro's application, acknowledging the need to assess the seriousness of the charges and potential penalties. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Blessing CEO on June 9, 2026, on two counts related to stealing and fraudulent acquisition of funds. The prosecution alleges that in March 2025, she falsely obtained N69,150,000 from Hope Chiropractic Health Clinic Limited by claiming she could secure a property lease in Lagos.

During the bail hearing, the court inquired about the whereabouts of Okoro's international passport. Her defense counsel presented an affidavit of loss and tendered public notices as proof, indicating the passport was lost. Justice Oshodi ruled that Okoro must provide two sureties, each in the sum of N20 million, and that each surety must submit a three-year bank statement or fixed deposit evidence valued at no less than N20 million.

The court also mandated that Blessing Okoro and her sureties undergo profiling through the Lagos State Judiciary’s Bail Information Management System. Furthermore, the Nigerian Immigration Service will be notified of her travel restrictions pending the case's determination. The trial has been adjourned to October 12, 2026, for its continuation.
