Nasfund CEO Rajeev Sharma receives King’s Medal for 25 years of service to Papua New Guinea

Rajeev Sharma dedicated Papua New Guinea’s 50th Anniversary King’s Medal to his family and the Nasfund employees who worked alongside him.

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae, representing King Charles III, presented the honor to the National Superannuation Fund chief executive at Government House. The medal recognizes Sharma’s 25 years of service in finance, accounting and corporate leadership in Papua New Guinea.

Accepting the award, Sharma thanked Papua New Guineans for accepting him in the country and said he felt “very honoured and humbled” to receive it. He said the recognition belonged not only to him, but also to his wife, children and Nasfund staff.

I want to say thank you to the people of Papua New Guinea for accepting us in PNG. I am very honoured and humbled to receive this award on behalf of my wife and children. This award is not only for me but for all the Nasfund staff who work tirelessly with me. I really appreciate this.

The commemorative medal received approval from King Charles III as part of celebrations marking Papua New Guinea’s 50th anniversary of independence. It honors Papua New Guineans and others who have made significant contributions to the nation’s development over five decades.

Nasfund Chairman Christopher Elphick called the presentation a proud moment for the fund. He praised Sharma’s work to strengthen the superannuation sector, promote sound governance and deliver long-term value for members, saying his leadership had helped position Nasfund as one of Papua New Guinea’s most respected and trusted financial institutions.
