Nasiruddin Patwary Transfers Voter Registration to Dhaka-8

Nasiruddin Patwary has moved his voter registration from Uttara to Dhaka-8, a constituency that includes Shahbagh, Motijheel, Ramna, Kakrail, Shajahanpur and parts of Moghbazar.

The National Citizen Party’s chief coordinator submitted the transfer application to the Election Commission using Form 13. The commission approved it after verifying the application and related documents, NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tusher confirmed.

Patwary’s registration was previously under Dhaka North City Corporation. A senior NCP leader told The Daily Star that he is likely to become the party’s mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation, although the matter will be discussed at upcoming party meetings.

The party had earlier selected spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain as its potential DSCC candidate and Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adeeb as its potential candidate for DNCC.

Patwary contested the February 12 national election from Dhaka-8 as an NCP candidate and received 54,127 votes. BNP candidate Mirza Abbas won with 59,366 votes. Patwary later requested a recount, alleging irregularities in the election.
